DIY Scrapbook Paper Magazine Holders.

Today I’m going to show you how to give boring plain wooden magazine holders a bright and colourful makeover.

I'm such a magazine hoarder, I hold onto them for years and years and can't bring myself to throw them out. I used to cut them up and save them in scrapbooks but lately, they've just been mounting up in a not-so-tidy stack.

I've been trying to think of a better way to store them when I came across these wooden magazine holders from Ikea, all they needed was a splash of colour and some pattern to brighten them up.

These personalised magazine holders will not only serve a functional purpose but also add a touch of style and personality to your space.

The best part? You can easily match them with your existing home decor or colour scheme. So, get ready to transform your office or home office into a place of inspiration with this enjoyable and practical craft project.

Supplies:

  • Wooden Magazine Holders

  • Scrapbook Paper

  • PVA Glue or Mod Podge

  • Paintbrush or Foam Brush.

  • Scissors

  • And a pencil

1. Take your magazine holder and using it as a template trace around each side of the box onto your decorative paper.

Cut out all the pieces and place them in position to see if any adjustments need to be made.

Be patient and try to be as precise as you can, taking your time now will mean a much neater end result.

2. Apply a thin, even layer of PVA glue or Mod Podge to your first side.

3. Carefully line up and stick your paper down smoothing out any air bubbles as you go.

Repeat until all the sides are covered.

4. Apply a label to the front and leave to dry.

There are so many different ways you could customise these files. I used my favourite scrapbooking paper from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm range and my Cath Kidston labels but you could use wallpaper, fabric or even leave them plain and decorate them with stamps.

What do you think? I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. They really brighten up my bookshelves and it's great to have somewhere to finally store some of my magazines.
