Emma

Hi, I'm Emma.

I'm a crafter, blogger and paper enthusiast living in the North West of England.

Gathering Beauty is the place where I share craft tutorials and diy inspiration. I started this blog back in 2013 as a way of sharing all the things I love and make. I share paper crafts, clay crafts, origami, printables and desktop wallpapers as well as the odd crochet and weaving project. I hope you find something here that inspires you.

MAKEOVER.

Gathering Beauty blog makeover

If you stopped by over the last few days you may have noticed that the blog has had a bit of a makeover. Same layout but it's got some snazzy new colours, an updated logo and some new sidebar graphics. Thanks so much for your patience if you popped on over during the update, I appreciate it.

I took a few days off for Easter break and enjoyed some time catching up with Game of Thrones, diving into season 2 of Daredevil, lunch out with friends and eating a lot of chocolate.

Here's what else I've been up to.

Walking at Burton

Out and about enjoying the bank holiday sunshine.

Getting ready to share a quick foolproof method for making gift boxes from greetings cards.

Sidar Beachcomber wool

Falling in love with this Beachcomber wool from Sidar, I can't get enough of that neon yellow, grey combo.

Crocheted granny square

Crocheting up a storm for a future diy using granny squares.

Evening shadows

Feeling thankful for Spring and enjoying the extra light in the evenings.

AROUND HERE: MARCH.

Around Here: March

READING Mrs Hemingway, Naomi Woods, the story of Ernest Hemingway told through the eyes his four wives. I'm 3/4 of the way through and enjoying it so far. An interesting read that makes me want to know more. I think The Paris Wife (the story of wife no.1) might be next on my list.

EATING the prettiest meringues. We had them crushed up with whipped cream Eton mess style. Delicious.

MAKING origami Easter bunny baskets. Look out for them on the blog later this week.

WATCHING season 4 of House of Cards. One of my favourite shows, so excited it's back.

LISTENING to Christine and The Queens. If you've got a spare few minutes you need to watch the video for Tilted, the choreography is amazing.

LOVING these Diy Shadow Boxes from Amy at Homey Oh My. Such gorgeous colours and a fantastic way to display your treasures.

AROUND HERE: JANUARY.

Around Here January

Thinking about giving this knitting thing another go. I've tried to learn to knit a couple of times in the last few years but it never seems to stick. I picked up this Simple Stylish Knittin magazine for 99p last week, it came with 2 small balls of wool and a pair of knitting needles. It has photo tutorials as well as online videos so I'm hoping this time I can't go wrong.

Finally watching The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 on the big screen. Loved it. Next up, Star Wars.

Making my gadgets bright and colourful with these gorgeous candy coloured wallpapers from Matt Crump. Check out his awesome Instagram as well.

Reading Paper Craft. I got this for Christmas. It's packed full of all kinds of projects from card making, scrapbooking, gifts and decorations. So far my favourites are the papercut lantern and the paper daisies but it changes every time I read it, there's so many gorgeous projects to choose from.

Falling in love with colouring. This Animorphia colouring book was another Christmas present. Check out the #animorphia on Instagram to see how amazing they look when filled. It's seriously impressive.

Watching Hinterland on BBC1 and wholeheartedly recommending it to anyone who is a fan of Wallander or The Killing. Series 1 is on Netflix is you want to catch up.

AROUND HERE: OCTOBER.

Around Here: October

Excited to start reading Big Magic. I'm not going to lie, it's not my usual type of book. I have no idea if I'm going to like it but after listening to Elizabeth Gilbert talking on

The Lively Show podcast I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Getting back in the habit of morning walks. Even if it is foggy and dull.

Crocheting up a storm. I'm on my third attempt at trying to make this cardigan. So far I've made it too small and way too big. I'm hoping third times the charm and I'll be able to share it later this week.

Listening to Girlboss Radio. Only two episodes so far but both are great.

Playing Two Dots.

A lot. Have you heard about this game? I only downloaded it 5 days ago but I'm already hooked. The illustrations are gorgeous. Brittni over at Paper & Stitch shared a fantastic tutorial for diy artwork inspired by the game that I absolutely love. Check it out.

Loving these doughnut post-it notes I picked up last week. They're so cute. I think I might have to go back and get a few more to give as Christmas presents.
