AROUND HERE - SEPTEMBER.

We spotted this mystery creature last saturday afternoon. We tried to take it's picture but it moved pretty quickly so it's a bit of a blur. In profile it looked like a tiny bird, it hovered and fed like a hummingbird but from the back it looked like a moth. After much discussion (is it a bird? No, I think it's a moth, no wait, maybe it is a bird, can you even get hummingbirds in the uk? I don't think so.) a quick google revealed it to be a hummingbird moth. So a moth that looks like a bird then.

I've been reading Made at Home by Lisa Stickley. I have a sewing machine I've used at the most 10 times and definitely not in the last 12 months, shame on me. I think it's time to change that. This book is full of 'simple' sewing projects, hopefully that means I can't go wrong.

Loving this magnet I bought at a craft fair last week. It's some kind of photo transfer on a stone tile. Does anybody have any idea how you do this? I've tried googling but I can't find anything where it ends up looking as bright as this. Tissue paper, maybe?

I've been busy making paper bows out of scrapbook paper to go with my origami gift boxes. It's a great project to do sitting in front of the tv.

Sunday was spent outside sanding and painting the fireplace a pale grey. It dried much lighter that I thought it would but that's ok. I think I prefer it this way.
