These pretty gift bags hold a special place in my heart because not only are they super cute but they’re also versatile and perfect for so many gift-giving occasions.

These easy paper gift bags are so easy to make and as you can use any patterned paper you already have on hand I think they’re much cuter than store-bought options.

From colourful scrapbooking paper to gift wrap, old magazine pages to colouring book pages, the options are endless. This means you can easily match the gift bag to any theme, whether it's a birthday party, baby shower, wedding or holiday celebration.

DIY Mini Paper Bags.

What I love most about these easy paper gift bags is their simplicity. Each bag is made from a single sheet of A4 paper.

Having a scoring board and embossing tool can speed up the process but the truth is you don't need any fancy tools or materials - just a sheet of paper and a pencil and ruler.

They’re a great way to make budget-friendly personalised DIY party bags.

How To Make A Gift Bag Out Of A4 Paper.

1. Cut your paper to standard A4 size.

2. With the long side at the top, use a scoring board and bone folder to score the paper at the 4-inch mark, the 5-inch mark, the 9-inch mark, the 10-inch mark and the 11-inch mark.

3. Rotate the paper 90 degrees and score at the 1-inch mark and the 2-inch mark.

4. Lay the paper with the last 2 score lines at the bottom.

Trim away the excess paper as shown in the 2nd square down on the left.

You need to make a base for your bag with 3 tabs and a small 1/2-inch side tab.

5. Apply glue to the tabs and fold the bottom of the bag up first. Stick the side tab down last.

6. Pinch the top of the bag to close. The sides will naturally fold in.

7. Hold the bag closed and use a pencil to mark 1 inch in from each side.

8. Use a hole punch or a crop-a-dile and punch 2 holes in the top of the bag.

9. Tie with some ribbon or baker's twine to close.

Fill it with tiny trinkets, treats chocolates, or even a heartfelt note to make someone's day extra special. These mini gift bags are perfect for birthdays, holidays or just to show someone you care.
