READING GOALS AND HABIT TRACKING.

READING GOALS AND HABIT TRACKING.

One of my goals this year is to read more. I've been using Elise Joy's daily habit tracker (you can sign up to her newsletter to get the free download) and so far I haven't missed a day. New Year's resolutions have always been something I've struggled with. I love the idea of a new year, of fresh starts and new goals. I'm just rubbish at keeping up with them. One of my goals last year was to read more and somewhere around mid August I realised I hadn't even managed to read a single book. Not good, Emma. Not good at all.

'Big things happen one day at a time.'

This year I decided to try again and instead of setting the rather vague goal of 'read more' I set myself the task of reading for 10 minutes every day. I've been a third of the way through The Muse by Jessie Burton since last March and just couldn't seem to find the time to finish it. I know it's because I've gotten into the awful habit of spending half an hour scrolling my phone before bed each night. So instead of picking up my phone each night I've been picking up a book instead.

'Shoot for progress - not perfection.'

By reading for at least 10 minutes every night I've already finished The Muse and am onto my 2nd book so I'm definitely feeling motivated to carry on. I love that I can already see the progress I'm making and I'm not going to let the odd missed day put me off.

I've also downloaded the Gemma Correll wallpaper above from the Papergang Blog. I've put it on my phone and tablet and every time I pick up my phone it reminds me to grab a book instead. So far the combination of daily habit tracker and the bookworm wallpaper seem to be working but I'll let you know how I get on.

What things do you do to keep on top of your goals and resolutions? Any tips?
