Diy Decoupage Candles

These diy decoupage candles are one of those projects I've been meaning to have a go at for ages. The reason it took me so long is that even though it's relatively cheap and easy to do I could never find the right pattern on the right napkin. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I finally found these gorgeous pink floral napkins and I knew they'd be perfect for it. Anything that's pink and floral is always going to be a winner in my books.

Supplies:

Plain candles to decorate, pretty patterned napkins, a metal spoon and a tea light for heating the spoon over.

Diy Decoupage Candles

1. Start by cutting out any shapes or sections of the napkins you want to use.
2. Peel apart all the layers. You only want the layer with the design printed on it.

3. Layout your napkin design on the candle and start heating the spoon over the tea light (be careful, it's going to get hot).

Top tip: Heat the spoon upside down (the opposite way to the picture above) that way if the spoon becomes blackened from the flame it won't rub off onto your candle and you won't have to spend ages trying to scrape it off and fix the mess you've made. Oops. I may or may not have done this.

4. Rub the spoon over your chosen design until you start to see the wax melting through the napkin. Try not to apply too much pressure as you can easily melt the candle and leave it looking uneven.

5. Keep reheating the spoon and repeat until the design is fully covered.

6. Add more pieces until you're happy with the overall design before leaving to cool.

And that's it. Beautiful, pink floral candles to brighten up those dull, grey January days.
