Gift Box Template.

Looking for a cute gift box? My printable gift boxes are the perfect way to share small gifts or maybe use as party favours for that special occasion.

We all know I love a good gift box (I’ve made quite a lot of them after all) but these ones are particularly useful if you need to make a lot of them for a wedding or birthday. They’re super easy to make and quick too. All you need to make them is the free PDF template, a printer and a sharp pair of scissors.

They come in two different sizes. A small 5x5 cm square box and a slightly larger rectangle gift box measuring 7x6x4 cm. You can customise them for any occasion depending on the paper you use. Florals for a summer birthday, pastels for spring, icy blues for winter.

Whether you want a quick box you can make in a couple of minutes or want to add a handmade touch to a gift these boxes are such a fun way to give small gifts or party favours. Perfect for everything from parties, Christmas or weddings.

How to choose the right paper for your DIY box.

For gift boxes the sturdier the paper the better. I recommend using cardstock if your printer can handle it or a lightweight cardstock like scrapbook paper.

Although you can make them using standard printer paper I would only suggest you do this as a trial run or if they’re only going to be used for decorative purposes.

If your card is too thick to run through the printer you can print the box design out onto some lightweight cardstock first and use this as a template.

A few of my favourite scrapbook papers.

A few tips for making simple DIY gift boxes.

  • The PDF templates are designed to fit standard A4 paper if you don’t want to mess around cutting 12x12 inch scrapbook paper to size keep an eye out for letter-sized cardstock.

You can find some over on Scrapbook.com.

  • To save time print and cut them in advance. You can store them flat in a binder and fold them as needed. Ideal for any last-minute small gifts like jewellery and chocolates.

  • I like to use double-sided tape to stick my boxes together. It’s mess-free and there’s no waiting around for the glue to dry. Another good alternative is a tape roller or a glue stick. Runny glue like PVA or school glue can make your paper buckle and ruin your box.

Trim the scrapbook paper to size and print the template out onto the blank side of the paper. If you're printing using Adobe Acrobat reader make sure to set page scaling to 'none' so the template is true to size.
