These origami carrots are totally kid-friendly, making them perfect for Easter parties, classroom activities, or a cosy rainy afternoon at home.

You can customise them with any patterned paper you love; gingham, florals, and pastels are absolutely gorgeous for spring.

And the best part? They're incredibly budget-friendly, since all you need is origami paper or any square piece of decorative paper you already have on hand.

What You'll Need:

  • Square sheets of paper (6" x 6" works great for standard-sized carrots)

    For the carrot body: orange, coral, yellow, or any spring-coloured paper

    For the leafy top: green paper or green gingham.

  • Optional: a bone folder for crisp creases

How to Make the Carrot Body.

1. Place your square paper coloured-side down on your work surface. Rotate it so it looks like a diamond (one corner pointing up, one pointing down).

2. Fold in half diagonally.

3. Open it back out.

4. Fold the sides in toward the centre crease to make a kite shape.

5. Repeat and fold the sides in toward the centre crease for a second time.

6. Fold the top point down to make a triangle.

7. Fold the sides in to make two small triangles.

8. Flip your to reveal the finished carrot shape.

How to Make the Leafy Carrot Top.

1. Place your square paper coloured-side down on your work surface. Rotate it so it looks like a diamond (one corner pointing up, one pointing down).

2. Fold in half diagonally.

3. Fold it half again before opening back out.

4. Fold the left corner across at an angle.

5. Repeat on the other side.

6. Fold the sides in to make the carrot top shape.

7. Flip it over to reveal the finished carrot top.

8. To finish glue the carrot top to the back of the carrot.
