Easy Origami Chick.

Today I've got the cutest and easiest origami chick tutorial that you can whip up using just a single sheet of square paper. These adorable chicks are not only easy to make but also perfect for decorating your Easter table or gifting to loved ones.

I've made quite a few origami projects over the years (do you remember these origami chicks in eggs) but this is definitely one of the easiest. They can be folded in under a minute once you’ve had a bit of practice.

And as they’re so simple they’re a good one to get kids involved with especially if you’re looking to keep them entertained over the Easter holidays.

Cute Origami Chicks.

Use them as place settings at an Easter brunch, hang them from strings to create a garland or scatter them across your table for a cute centrepiece. They also make fantastic gift toppers and can be attached to a blank card for a handmade Easter greeting.

However you choose to display them, these little chicks are sure to add a touch of handmade charm to your Easter celebrations.

Plus, with the wide range of origami paper available in different colours and patterns, you can customise your chicks to suit any Easter theme or colour scheme.

I chose bright pink, yellow and blue (you can find the origami paper I used here) for mine as they reminded me of those cute Easter Peeps marshmallows!

And the best thing about this easy origami Easter chick? You don’t need any fancy materials to make them. A single sheet of paper and a pen to draw on the eye and you’re all set.

My Favourite Origami Paper Alternatives.

I do recommend using origami paper (you can even get a cute pastel floral version) for any paper folding project, but if don't have any here are a few alternatives that you probably already have on hand.

I even have some printable origami paper you can download and use for FREE. Simply download, print and cut into 7x7-inch squares.

How To Make An Origami Baby Chick.

1. Take a square piece of origami paper and fold it in half along the diagonal.

2. Open your paper back out.

3. Fold the left edge into the middle.

4. Repeat and fold the right edge into the middle to make a kite shape.

5. Flip your folded paper over.

6. Fold the top point down to make a small triangle.

7. Fold the bottom point up slightly past the top edge. This will make the beak of your chick.

8. Fold in half towards you.

9. Rotate your origami model 90 degrees so the beak is pointing to the right.

10. Pull the beak down slightly and press the tail to flatten and secure the beak in position.

11. Fold the top of the head (above the beak) to make a small triangle fold.

12. Open it back out and make an inverse fold by folding it in on itself.

13. Fold the wing down at a slight angle.

14. Repeat on the opposite side.

15. Shape the bottom corners by folding the front corners behind and in. Repeat on both sides.

16. Repeat and fold the back corners in.

17. Draw on an eye to finish.

And there you have it! An easy origami chicken. They're the perfect addition to any Easter basket.

Simply tuck them in among the treats and eggs for an extra special touch. They also make great gifts for friends and family members!
