We all know that decorating for Christmas can cost a small fortune, so instead of buying expensive napkin rings why not make these DIY Air-Dry Clay Napkin Rings instead? They only used half a small pack of air-dry clay and are a clever way to personalise your table settings.

We all know how much I love air-dry clay. It’s such a versatile and budget friendly craft material that can be turned into pretty much anything. I mean, have you seen these stamped clay bowls? Depending on the size of your napkin rings you could make easily make 6 out of a small pack of clay and still have some leftover to make yourself a couple of pretty Christmas stars.

Making your own napkin rings is surprisingly easy. All you need is some air-dry clay, alphabet stamps and a cardboard tube. Stamp your guest’s names on the clay and use them as personalised one-of-a-kind place cards.

I left mine white and added a coat of clear varnish but you could easily give them a quick coat of paint before you varnish them for a coordinating party look. Just make sure the paint you use isn’t too watery as the clay will absorb the moisture and can become tacky. Acrylic paint will work best but it’s best to avoid using watercolours.

They’re a simple, budget-friendly make that will instantly dress up any table. Have a go and make them for your next gathering.

And don’t forget, you can use these all year round. New Year, dinner parties, birthday parties and they make a fantastic housewarming gift as well.

Materials:

You probably have a lot of these supplies already at home. The 500g pack of Das Clay only costs £1.99 and you can pick up these mini alphabet stamps at The Range for £1.25 so you don’t have to break the bank to make them!
