Origami Heart.

I wasn’t always fussy about Valentine’s Day but I have to admit it’s grown on me. I’ve developed a soft spot for heart-shaped chocolates and pretty paper hearts.

As a big fan of origami, I’ve shared a lot of tutorials over the years but I thought for this one we’d go back to basics. This origami heart takes less than a minute to make and is super simple. A handful of basic folds and you’re done.

There are several different ways you can fold an easy origami heart and I’m going to be sharing three of the easiest in the run-up to Valentine’s Day so make sure to check back for the other two. You’ll be able to find them all over on my Valentine’s Day Origami page along with all my past origami projects.

Although none of the projects are difficult (they all count as beginner projects) I thought a good place to start would be with the traditional origami heart. They’re a good one if you’re short on time as they’re so quick to fold.

Sweet and simple is always the way to go when you’re looking for a last-minute craft, don’t you agree? No mess, no fuss, just pretty paper hearts you can do in a minute or two.

They make such a thoughtful handmade gift. They’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, weddings, anniversaries, national best friend day, you get the idea.

Supplies:

That’s it, no complicated mile long craft supply list here!

For these hearts, I used traditional origami paper but you could use gift wrap or magazines or completed colouring book pages. I’ve even seen them made using paper napkins, perfect for a romantic meal.

Of course, if you’re feeling extra crafty there’s nothing stopping you from decorating the paper first. How lovely would some hand-painted x’s and o’s look or some DIY lip patterned gift wrap?
