MANGFALD PAPER COLLECTION AT IKEA.

MANGFALD PAPER COLLECTION AT IKEA.

Has anyone been to Ikea lately? As a stationery addict the paper shop is always my favourite section. I fell in love with their new Mangfald range as soon as I saw it. Gift wrap, boxes, stickers and washi tape in lovely matte and shiny papers covered in gold accented leopard print, tigers and watermelons. What's not to love? I bought two of everything. I know, I know, I have a problem but how could I resist?

Gathering Beauty is the place where I share craft tutorials and diy inspiration. I started this blog back in 2013 as a way of sharing all the things I love and make. I share paper crafts, clay crafts, origami, printables and desktop wallpapers as well as the odd crochet and weaving project. I hope you find something here that inspires you.

AN OLDIE BUT A GOODIE - DIY STAMPED CLAY BOWLS.

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. I was scrolling through and updating the archives the other day when I realised I'd made and shared over 150 projects here on the blog. How crazy is that? It seems like such a pity to have them buried in the archives never to be seen again so I thought it would be fun to re-share some of my favourites. I've narrowed it down to my top ten and I'm excited to share them with you over the next couple of months. I hope you love this look through my past projects as much as I've loved putting it together.

First up are my Diy Stamped Clay Bowls. Still my absolute number one favourite thing I've made and something I still love and use nearly three years later. They currently sit on my desk and hold washi tapes and gold paperclips. They've been shared over five hundred thousand times so obviously I'm not the only one who likes them. They can be easily customised using any stamp you like and make fantastic gifts.

Pop on over and check them out here and happy crafting.

HAPPY EASTER

I'm shutting up early this week for the Easter break. I'm hoping there'll be a chocolate egg or two in my future ;) I hope you have a wonderful weekend whether you celebrate or not and I'll see you back here on Wednesday for more diy inspiration.

SUPER SWEET EASTER TREATS.

Super sweet Easter treats #easter #eastercrafts #easterdesserts #desserts #sweettreats #gatheringbeauty

With Easter coming up I'm sure you're thinking about chocolate eggs and sweet treats. In case you're looking for some last-minute inspiration I've rounded up some of my favourites.

Easter egg brownies

Loaded with chocolate eggs and chicks, this is the ultimate Easter centrepiece - an 'eggstra' special treat for afternoon tea or dessert

Bunny Bum Cookies

For a couple of years now, bunny bum cookies, cupcakes, or other similar treats  have been super popular all over the internet, and I thought it was time to add my little twist to them — making them SUPER simple. These require literally no more than 10 minutes to make!

Hot cross buns

When it comes to Easter, you can’t beat indulging in a lovely, sticky hot cross bun. Give this recipe a go – I promise you’ll never buy the shop bought versions again.

Bunny Cinnamon Rolls

These seriously couldn’t be any easier! This isn’t really a recipe, but more of a “hack” for packaged cinnamon rolls. All you need is your favorite regular-sized canned cinnamon rolls and a baking tray!

Easter Basket Cake

Well, today I have another new springtime cake for you.  This time we’re taking old-school basketweave and giving it a sleek and modern update.  Inspired by the beautiful grapevine baskets that I keep seeing in my favorite stores.

Egg Sprinkle Cookies

Are you busy stuffing plastic grass-filled baskets and dyeing Easter eggs? Tis the season! I must admit I’ve not dipped the first egg into colorful vinegar-scented cups, but I have been otherwise occupied making these sprinkled egg cookies. They are so fun and couldn’t be easier to decorate.

Coconut Cupcakes with Toasted Coconut Frosting

These light and fluffy coconut cupcakes are bursting with bright coconut flavor! With ground shredded coconut, coconut milk, and coconut extract these cupcakes have it all. Topped with coconut frosting, toasted shredded coconut, and candy eggs, these adorable cupcakes make the perfect Easter treat!

Adorable Easter Bunny Treats

One of my favorite things about celebrating the holidays is making silly little treats that the kids get such a kick out of. These adorable little Easter Bunny Treats are so fun and the kids can even help decorate them.

Easter Chocolate Nest Mini Egg Cupcakes

These chocolate cupcakes are so simple to make yet so tasty. The mini eggs on top add just the right amount of extra to the final product!

If that’s not enough you can check out my other Easter crafts including bunnies, wreath and baskets and decorated eggs here.

CURRENTLY READING - FRESH PRINTS.

CURRENTLY READING - FRESH PRINTS.

As I mentioned back in January one of the things I wanted to do more of was read. So far I've read Among The Wicked,  Linda CastilloScrappy Little Nobody,  Anna Kendrick and In The Company of Women, Grace Bonney. Not a huge list but not far off what I ended up reading in the whole of last year so I feel like I'm on a roll.

I picked up Fresh Prints by Christine Leech a couple of weeks ago but only really managed to take a proper look at it this week. It's all about block printing using found objects and what Christine calls 'lazy lino prints.' This is a great introduction into printing, full of fantastic ideas and tips to get you started. There's a section at the beginning about mixing colours and how to get the correct consistency with your ink and tools of the trade as well as all the templates you'll need to recreate the projects for yourself.  I loved them all so it was hard to choose but I snapped a few of my favourite below.

I loved, loved, loved these circus letter wooden postcards...

and this mushroom stamped cushion using the 'lasy lino' technique...

but I especially loved these bleach stamped beach towels. Who knew you get such a cool effect with cookie cookies and some household bleach.

The books a couple of years old now but you can still pick up copies on Amazon and Ebay. Check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

P.S. If you liked the look of this book you might want to check out my post on how to carve a custom stamp.
